Bears in India and Pakistan are being captured, tortured, and used for "entertainment"- they need your help! Even though it is illegal to capture bears in both countries, more than 1,600 sloth bears are being imprisoned and forced to perform. If you think that the video below is just plain horrifying, then imagine how these bears feel! You can make a difference for animals used for entertainment.

Bear cubs who are barely 1 year old squeal in agony as red-hot needles are jabbed through their noses and thick ropes are forced through the throbbing wounds. When the ropes are tugged, the bears "dance," lifting their legs to try to avoid the agony. Most of these animals' teeth are pulled out, and they are forced to perform for up to 12 hours a day. Bears are "trained" to dance through systematic pain and starvation. Many cubs, however, die before the training begins from the stress of capture, the terrible transportation conditions, starvation, dehydration, and rough handling. Although they live up to 30 years in the wild, bears used for entertainment rarely live more than eight years in captivity.
Bears need your voice. Please send a message to government officials in India and Pakistan asking them to strictly enforce laws to protect bears and to send all the rescued animals to sanctuaries so that they can live their lives out in peace.
Personalized letters always work best. Feel free to use the following text, but your message will carry more weight if you write your own customized message and subject line.
