Glue traps are the cruelest pest-control devices on the market today. Animals who get stuck to them suffer for days before they finally die of starvation, dehydration, self-mutilation, and shock. Patches of skin, fur, or feathers are torn from their bodies as they frantically struggle to escape the relentless adhesive. Many animals resort to chewing off their own limbs in a desperate attempt to free themselves, and others get their noses, mouths, or beaks stuck in the glue and suffocate. Imagine being stuck in a giant glue trap and having to gnaw off your own leg just to break free—pretty hideous, right?
Back in 1997, PETA received The Home Depot’s written assurance that the company would stop selling glue traps. Last year, the company went back on its word and started selling these torture devices again. We immediately contacted company officials, but they have refused to work with us. Not even the fact that other companies—including CVS, Rite Aid, Albertsons, and Safeway—have banned glue traps has persuaded The Home Depot to do the right thing and get rid of them once and for all. That’s where you come in. Please take a moment to fill out this form and send a message to The Home Depot’s CEO. Tell him that you are outraged by the fact that The Home Depot is still selling cruel glue traps when so many humane alternatives are available.Personalized letters always work best.
