PETA's seven-month investigation into U.S. Global Exotics (USGE) revealed that thousands of animals suffered horrible fates because the facility's management and owners denied them the most basic necessities: food, water, space, air, heat, humidity, veterinary care, and even a painless end to their misery. Continuous, cruel confinement to severely crowded and filthy enclosures compounded their suffering and resulted in the slow, painful deaths of countless animals. As a result of the investigation, more than 26,000 animals were rescued from these hellish conditions and are now safe. But at this very moment, millions of others just like them who were kidnapped from the wild or raised in horrific breeding mills are suffering in facilities every bit as cruel and terrifying. Please help other animals suffering in the cruel pet trade by asking PetSmart and PETCO to stop selling animals immediately. This is not PETA's first look behind the closed doors of the pet trade. PETA's undercover investigation of Rainbow World Exotics (RWE)—a major supplier of PetSmart and PETCO—revealed similar cruelty, yet PetSmart and PETCO refused to sever ties with RWE and continue to receive animals from the company at hundreds of their stores. RWE is just one of the sources of animals sold at PETCO and PetSmart. Other distributors about whom PETA has received reports over the years and who sell to PETCO and PetSmart—such as Sun Pet, which was recently also exposed by a PETA investigation—typically buy animals from wholesale dealers like USGE. During our investigation and the courtroom testimony that followed, it was revealed that USGE was also a direct supplier of Petland stores. Please write to PetSmart and PETCO today and demand that they stop selling all animals immediately.
