Here's your WTF news of the day: PETA has released video footage from a new undercover investigation into civet coffee farms in Indonesia and the Philippines.
What's a civet coffee farm? Well, it's a place where civets are kept in tiny, barren cages and forced to eat only coffee berries so that when they poop them out, farmers can pick out the undigested coffee beans and sell them at ridiculously high prices.
Yup. Coffee made from POOP.
And look at how these animals are treated:
All so that humans can drink some coffee made out of their poop.
WHAT THE F#CK?!?!
Forcing these animals to live in a cage is as effed up as drinking poop coffee. The civets are typically torn away from their homes in the wild and deprived of everything that is natural and important to them, including freedom, exercise, space, and even the nutritious foods that they need to stay healthy enough to keep their fur. They bite at the cage bars, turn in circles, and go insane from being imprisoned.
What can YOU do to stop this abuse?
