FACT: It's NOT OK to abuse wild animals for entertainment.
Call of the Wildman is an Animal Planet reality TV show that follows Ernie Brown Jr. (aka "The Turtleman"), a supposed wildlife rescuer from Lebanon, Kentucky.
According to whistleblower reports, animals were trapped and confined to small cages prior to the shooting of an episode of the show, then were released in the filming location so that they could be chased and captured on camera, causing the animals tremendous pain and suffering.
In September 2013, PETA received whistleblower complaints about the show and wrote to Animal Planet regarding the reports, which stated that the show routinely staged animal nuisance calls and that wild animals were abused in order to falsify the stories.
Animal Planet denied the allegations and claimed that it takes "any accusations of animal cruelty seriously," but a new investigation, which supports what PETA was told by whistleblowers, reveals that Call of the Wildman actively sought out species, taking them from their natural habitats and forcing them into stressful, dangerous, and unnatural situations. The animals were then tormented for the sake of entertainment as Brown chased and trapped them on camera.
