Despite knowing about the long history of animal abuse by Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus, online deal site LivingSocial continues to promote cruel circuses by offering online ticket deals.
Elephants, tigers, and other animals used in circuses are routinely abused, chained, neglected, and denied everything that is natural and important to them.
Elephants Nicole, Sara, and Rudy are all hauled around by Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus, yet all three of these elephants are suffering from painful and chronic health problems. In a recent inspection report issued by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), Ringling’s elephant caretaker claimed that he couldn’t provide these three elephants with daily veterinary treatment because he can’t access them when they are confined to boxcars. Nicole, Sara, and Rudy received no medication for their conditions for days on end.
Ringling was fined $270,000 by the U.S. Department of Agriculture for dozens of violations of the federal Animal Welfare Act.
Please contact LivingSocial's head of communications and politely ask the company to agree never to promote Ringling Bros. again.
