Animals are Not Ours

Help PETA Free These Bears!

Right now, five bears are being forced to spend their lives imprisoned in a small, boring concrete pit at Three Bears General Store in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee.

They spend their days in cramped conditions and have nothing to do except stare at the walls and beg tourists for food. As a result, they fight with each other, and according to an employee of the store, this is a common occurrence. Forcing incompatible animals to live together in a small pit is inhumane, and they need our help.

Three Bears has a lengthy history of animal welfare violations, including citations for allowing moldy feces to accumulate in the pit, failing to provide bears with adequate veterinary care, and failing to supply clean drinking water. Recently, one bear was seen dragging her back leg. Arthritis and foot injuries among captive bears are often caused by obesity and by being forced to stand on concrete. It's time that these bears were moved out of their prison to a reputable sanctuary where they can have proper care and opportunities to roam and forage.

In 2014, The Simpsons co-creator Sam Simon, PETA, and the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency rescued two Himalayan black bears who had been illegally imported by the owner of the pit—Bill Delozier—for the purpose of breeding. They now live at The Wild Animal Sanctuary in Colorado, where they spend their days walking in soft grass, lounging in the sun, and otherwise behaving like bears. Five bears remained at the roadside zoo, but one, Honey, has since died, never having had the chance to feel soft ground beneath her feet or enjoy space to roam and look at the horizon. The other four are still held captive and exploited at Three Bears General Store. They need your help!

Fight for them!
Join us in urging Delozier to end the exploitation and suffering of the bears at Three Bears General Store by sending them to a sanctuary, where they'll have the space and quality care that they deserve.
