U.S. Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) has introduced a bill that, if signed into law, would save future generations of orcas from a life spent confined to a concrete cell—an action supported by 68 percent of U.S. adults in a recent national poll.
The Orca Responsibility and Care Advancement (ORCA) Act, House Resolution (H.R.) 4019, prohibits the breeding, wild capture, and importation or exportation of orcas for public display and other purposes. Now we need your help to encourage other Congress members to cosponsor the bill.
"The evidence is very strong that the psychological and physical harm done to these magnificent animals far outweighs any benefits reaped from their display," Rep. Schiff said.
Rep. Schiff's bill would end orca shows at SeaWorld and the Miami Seaquarium and would save all future generations of orcas from suffering in barren concrete tanks, where many go mad from stress, grief, and frustration. Please join us in urging Congress to support the ORCA Act, H.R. 4019, today.
